Maldives Island - Maldives Travel

Maldives Travel

The Maldives is the definitive tropical paradise with groups of tiny islands from isolated retreats to much livelier resort. Just right for divers, the crystal clear waters are the habitat of about three quarters of the planets reef fish species, while the unspoiled sands and relaxed atmosphere make a perfect destination for honeymooners.

MaldivesThe Maldives really are 'no news, no shoes' islands and not for those looking for culture. Accommodation ranges from the simple to the understated elegant with services from friendly, polite (and laid-back!) staff. Most food and drink is imported, so menus are varied and well suited to the western palate. Transfers by Seaplane can't always be assured as they are subject to weather conditions. An overnight say in Male may be necessary to or another resort nearby if there are late arrivals on international flights, as the seaplanes cannot be booked after dusk. May and June signal the wet season and brings bad weather which may restrict water sports. The less mobile may find Jetties, sand paths difficult or boat transfers

Every one of the stunning Maldives islands in this spectacular grouping is rather distinctive. Local trips, which are arranged from your chosen hotel, are focused on scuba diving, snorkeling or boating trips to the other islands or to see the wonderful underwater world. Trips to the major island of Male can be prearranged from most islands (see individual hotel descriptions). Photographic seaplane flights can be arranged from some islands too. The Maldives is for those looking for the ultimate island experience rather than shopping and nightlife.
